The Prairie State Project is the country's largest coal-fired power plant currently under construction. Once completed in 2012, this 1,600-megawatt side-by-side coal-fired power plant will supply electricity to more than two million homes and businesses. The contract with Bechtel Power will likely be the largest ever for APi Construction, and one of the largest in the 80-plus year history of APi Group Inc.

For more than 20 years, Senior Project Manager Bob Miller has worked for APi and ran some of the company's largest projects, including the recently complete Elm Road project. Miller is responsible for working with Bechtel Power to manage the work at Prairie State.

APi anticipates it will employ more than 100 Union craftspeople from the St. Louis and mid-Illinois area including sheet metal workers, insulators, boilermakers, carpenters, and laborers. APi Construction's work on the project will begin in July 2010 and is scheduled for completion in late 2012.
