API was the chosen insulation contractor during initial construction of these nuclear reactors from 1970 to 1973. Since Unit #1 began commercial operation in December 1973 and Unit #2 in December 1974, API has performed 51 Refueling Outages and retained a full-time crew on site to perform maintenance throughout the plant.

In 2004, API Construction was awarded the contract with the Washington Group International Steam Generator Team to replace the Unit #1 Steam Generator. Scope included the removal of existing Mirror Reflective Insulation (MRI) on the old steam generator and installation of new Transco MRI on the new steam generator.

In 2003, API Construction was awarded the contract with Xcel Energy to supply and install three new buildings for the steam generator replacement. The scope of work consisted of erecting 21,000 square feet of slab on grade metal buildings. The general contracting consisted of engineering and managing all of the subcontractors for the project.
