Scope of work:
We Energies built two new side-by-side 600-MW coal-fired power plants on the shores of Lake Michigan, and APi was the chosen contractor to install all insulation, lagging, and pipe jacketing for these new plants. Throughout the project, APi supplied and installed nearly 950,000 SF of insulation and lagging on:
- two Hitachi 600-MW supercritical coal fired boilers
- two Hitachi selective catalytic seduction systems (SCR's)
- two Hitachi steam turbines
- two Alstom fabric filter dust collectors four Howden in-line induced draft fans
- other miscellaneous equipment
In addition, API installed more than 23 miles of pipe insulation and jacketing on the balance of plant systems, boiler and turbine piping systems, two Alstom wet precipitators, and two Alstom wet scrubbers.
