APi Partners With Habitat For Humanity For A Brave Veteran
APi Group, APi Construction, APi Distribution, APi National Service Group and more of our family of companies, partnered with Habitat for Humanity “A Brush With Kindness” to help fix and restore a local veteran’s home. Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit housing organization dedicated to helping those with inadequate living conditions by welcoming community members to volunteer their time and effort to build and repair homes using largely donated materials. The organization has served more than two million people worldwide, building more than 500,000 houses since 1976. As APi has done for the last few years, we dedicated our efforts to help a veteran and their home.
This year, we helped an Army veteran who served in the Vietnam War, in an artillery unit. A lifelong carpenter and active D.A.V. volunteer, he has lived in his home since the mid-seventies. PTSD and physical limitations have prevented him from keeping up with maintenance and completing home improvement projects. A grant from The Home Depot Foundation helped with a major interior rehab in the Winter/Spring of 2017.
The APi Group family was brought in to assist in the upkeep, repair, and cosmetic appeal of the exterior of the home. The range of projects and work scope included, the repair of wood trim, soffits, and fascia as necessary on house and garage. Washing exterior stucco on house using TSP solution, repair broken glass in windows as necessary, and scrape, prepare and paint wood trim on house and garage.
It’s not easy work, but this continues to be an event that many APi Group employees have happily participated in, for many years. Our continuous support to our veterans is an important value to our company. We look forward to supporting Habitat for Humanity, and more veterans in the future!
